St. Lucia is considered the leading Eco-tourist experience in South Africa and the area offers a wealth of activities. 

Therefore we suggest that you spend a minimum of 3-6 days to encounter some of the scenic sites and many activities of the St. Lucia region.

African Fish Eagle The area is renowned for it's abundant birdlife, and home range for more than 300 different species. Often you can see the majestic African Fish Eagle.
The Great St. Lucia Wetland Park is located only a few hundred meters from AVALONE GUESTHOUSE. This park is home to game species like buffalo, elephant, rhino, leopard and many diffrent species of antelopes.

If you wish to visit bigger parks, there is two very abundant parks in the area, just 3/4 of an hours drive from St. Lucia.
Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Park, is home to the "Big Five": buffalo, rhino, elephant, lion and leopard. Furthermore this park has a very great number of the rare Black Rhino. You can also see zebras and many different species of antelopes.
Pukkelhvaler At sea, lakes and rivers, seasonal whale and turtle viewing is possible. We can arrange special boat trips where you get close to these magnificent sea mammals.

Futhermore there is possibillity for activities like kayaking, canoeing and horseback safaris.

The shore, sea and rivers in the St. Lucia area is a paradise for anglers.
Enjoy first class big game fishing for marlin, sailfish and tunar, surfcasting at the shore and flyfishing in the rivers.

If you like watersports, there is great possibillity for snorkelling and diving at Cape Vidal.
